Pedigree dog theft in Mauritius

Pedigree dog theft is on the hike in Mauritius and it is now a primary objective of the club to try to discourage the purchase of pedigree dogs from any breeder who has not registered with the FCC.

So what can you do:
• Spread the word and try to discourage supporting these dog farms. One Visit to one of these places will be enough to convince anyone who loves animals that this is inhumane and demonstrates human greed at it most brutal.
• Register your dog and have his/her pedigree confirmed.
• Please familiarize yourself with the procedures of the FCC. http://www.fcc.org.mu/en/online_forms.html
• Certify all pedigree matings with the FCC.
• Micro-chip your dog.
• If you have a litter, we encourage you to have a compulsory club membership sign up to any of the new owners.
• We also encourage you to request that the puppy is certified by a judge at the relevant age and registered with the club as a pedigree. The rules of the FCC will then protect the dogs from abusive breeding programs.

International Dog Show - August 2010

We are delighted that CALINNA OF BELLE MONTAGNE won best female and VICTOR PADDINGTON OF THE GINJAM SANDS won Best Adult Golden Male, Best of Breed Golden, Best of Group 8! Well done to all the dogs that attended. The judges were very positive about the general quality of all the Goldens! Well done!

8 August - Annual Dog Show at St Mary's College

The Dog Show 2010 organised by the MSPCA and the FCC will be held on Sunday 08-Aug at St Mary's College.

The Dog Show is the opportunity to have purebred dogs confimed and rated by international accredited judges.
Will be present on that day, judges Medard-Ringuet, Desserne & Houareau.

The Dog Show also includes the following:
- Dog beauty contests
- Agility contests
- Various spectacular demos

Looking for a golden retriever puppy

Our dogs are very treasured and here in Mauritius, if you want a golden with a known breeding lineage, you are going have to play the waiting game! Please also understand that not all homes or families may be suitable for a golden. The decision to give or sell a pup to someone is at the discretion of the owner of the mother and should you wish to have the privilege of having one of these animals in your family, you may need to be open to some questions and possibly a visit to your home by the breeder. This is as much for the dog as for the new home and family. A responsible breeder will usually try to re-home a dog that has not worked out for a family and so the suitability test is done to prevent possibly an unwanted pet. Please do as much reading as possible about the breed before you decide to take on a puppy.Take note of the characteristics that may or may not be desirable such as long hair and guard dog ranking. Also think about the sex of the dog you would like. If you already have dogs, it is best to avoid having the same sex as this can lead to dominance issues even in a breed and gentle as the Golden Retriever.
